1. What is Carbon Shield?

Carbon Shield is a smart plugin for e-commerce platforms like Shopify that automatically calculates and prices the carbon footprint of every product or order. It helps online stores become more climate-conscious and transparent with their customers.

We use product-level data, shipping info, and reliable emission factors to estimate the carbon footprint of each order. The system is continuously updated to reflect real-world supply chain and logistics impact. You can play with it using calculator found here.

3. How does Carbon Shield calculate emissions?

You can find a dynamic carbon cost at checkout with at our E-commerce partner stores. The offset is optionally covered by customers. Funds will be directed toward Carbon Shield vetted local sustainability projects through our NGO partners.

2. How do I offset emissions with Carbon Shield?

We’re built for small and mid-sized e-commerce businesses that want to integrate climate responsibility into their operations without hassle. No sustainability expertise is needed to get started.

While Carbon Shield doesn’t directly reduce emissions, we partner with local NGOs in the Netherlands by funding their environmental projects using the carbon contributions collected through our platform.

It’s a simple process, we use Shopify app to make it happen. Upon agreement our technical specialist Gintaras will help you with onboarding and support your journey with periodic updates and an on-going support.

Carbon contributions go toward carefully selected local NGO's to finance their environmental projects in the Netherlands. From each contribution we take on average 0.5 EUR to cover our operation costs, the rest goes to the local NGO.
